summary

Located at the heart of Hongdae, the Entertainment Building sits at a prominent corner near Hongik University, symbolizing cultural dynamism and creative energy. The structure, which houses the headquarters of Showpark Entertainment, draws attention with its refined yet approachable presence that blends into the urban fabric. The building’s façade is composed with minimal gestures, designed to express clarity and openness rather than grandiosity. A sequence of circular portraits of affiliated artists on the front-facing wall highlights the agency's identity and artistic portfolio.
Inside, spatial flow and natural lighting are carefully orchestrated to reflect the transparency and accessibility of the entertainment industry. The entrance opens toward a narrow alley, contrasting the vibrant surroundings with a quiet threshold.
Much like the trajectory of rising talent, the building’s vertical layers suggest progression — from grounded beginnings to elevated recognition. The top floor, subtly offset from the rest of the mass, provides an introspective space that echoes creative exploration.
The surrounding greenery and alleyways are drawn into the courtyard, softening the boundaries between public and private.
This urban insertion functions not just as a workspace, but as a symbolic platform where emerging voices take shape within a broader cultural landscape.

KYK Architects Co., Ltd. carried out the remodeling of the Kumwon Textile headquarters located in Bangidong, Songpa-gu.

Staircase Remodeling

The staircase was redesigned to create a cleaner, more contemporary look.
Outdated stainless-steel railings and visually cluttered signage were removed, replaced with sleek black metal handrails that emphasize modern simplicity.
The surrounding walls were refinished in a crisp white tone, brightening the space and enhancing visibility.
This transformation not only improves safety and accessibility but also aligns the interior circulation areas with the building’s updated aesthetic.

Parking Area Remodeling

The parking area was completely renovated to create a clean, modern entrance that enhances both functionality and appearance.
Outdated wall tiles and signage were removed, replaced with a refined granite finish that matches the building’s updated façade.
The space was restructured for improved traffic flow and accessibility, while a lighter, polished floor surface brightens the area and adds a sense of openness.
This transformation elevates the first impression of the building, aligning the parking zone with the overall architectural renewal.

Parking Ceiling with Spruce Wood Louvers

The parking ceiling has been finished with spruce wood louvers, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that contrasts elegantly with the building’s modern granite exterior.
The rhythmic pattern of the wooden slats adds depth and texture, enhancing the visual appeal while maintaining a clean, contemporary look.
This natural design element not only elevates the aesthetic value of the entrance but also provides a welcoming first impression for visitors and occupants alike.

Interior Renovation

The restroom was fully upgraded with modern fixtures, sleek grey wall tiles, and improved lighting, creating a clean and functional space.
The office area was redesigned with a neutral color palette, large windows for natural light, and an open layout to maximize flexibility for various work configurations.
Both areas reflect the building’s overall design approach—combining practicality with a contemporary, professional aesthetic.
